This Ph.D. has over 20 years of industry experience in physics and is the recipient of numerous awards for his research in atomic, condensed matter, and optical physics.  His research interests include the study of atomic clusters, atomic and molecular physics, and nonlinear optics.  In the area of atomic clusters, he is focuses in the emergence of complex solid state properties out of the basic properties of molecules. This work involves both the production of ultra fine particles and the subsequent analysis of their electronic and material properties, primarily through the use of lasers.  His research in atomic physics centers on negative ions in strong radiations fields, and Rydberg and auto-ionizing states in one and two electron atoms. His focus in nonlinear optics has involved the production of short wavelength coherent radiation, using both pulsed and continuous-wave lasers, as well as a number of nonlinear laser spectroscopies.
