This Ph.D. has over over thirty years of industry and academic experience involving medicinal, synthetic, and bioorganic chemistry.  In addition, he has extensive experience in molecular biology, enzymology, protein biochemistry, fermentation technology and other related biomedical fields.  His research efforts over the past decade include synthesis of complex biologically active molecules, natural product isolation, and include discovery and analysis of diverse bacteria and fungi that produce valuable bioactive natural product molecules.  In addition to basic research, his laboratory pursues genomic, proteomic and pathway engineering approaches to harness the metabolic capabilities of terrestrial and marine microorganisms. He also serves as Director of a major University's academic drug discovery and development center, a unique enterprise that pursues drug discovery opportunities in the area of metabolic diseases, anti-infectives, cancer and other disease areas.  He is an experienced Expert Witness in trade secret, and patent infringement litigation involving medicinal agents as well as DNA and antibody-based diagnostic tools.  Over the past five years he has written over half a dozen expert reports, rebuttal reports and has been cross-examined in deposition six times.
