This Ph.D. has over twenty-five years of academic experience in computer science and health information technology.  He is a recognized expert in the fields of reliability, security and privacy, system and software analysis, networks, and distributed computing.  Areas of emphasis in his research include fault-tolerant systems, intrusion detection, distance collaboration, and health information technology.  

He has been the principal or co-principal investigator on numerous research efforts funded by NASA, the National Library of Medicine, the Health Resources and Services Administration, and the Federal Communications Commission, among others.
