Professional Summary: This Ph.D. has over forty-five years of government and academic experience with a focus on food and nutrition science. She has received national and international attention for her work in nutrition and is an authority on the nutritional aspects of fats in health and disease. She assisted in launching the revision of the Recommended Daily Allowances ( RDA ) and developing new techniques in nutrition research. Under her leadership, the USDA's Agricultural Research Service nutrition research centers developed new techniques in isotope kinetic, neutron activation and modern mass spectrometry. At a major University she led an effort to apply spectroscopy to current problems in nutrition. She has in print numerous publications, refereed Journals, chapters in books and books many of which focus on the specific area of hydrogenated fats in food and fatty acids. |
