This Ph.D has experience in operating system design (specializing in device interface strategies, file system structures, interprocess communications, networking, and protection mechanisms).  He has experience in computer architecture and organization, parallel computation strategies, distributed computing, as well as high speed networking, distributed communications models and protocols, and network management strategies.  His expertise includes design and implementation of language recognition and analysis systems: to include both natural (automated language recognition systems) and computer (translators, command language interpreters and compilers) language applications.  He has extensive involvement in campus communications and computing environment evolution, to include all phases of wide area ( WAN ) and local area network ( LAN ) planning and implementation. He has designed network plants for 4 engineering buildings and CALIT2, a major multi-campus research institute, and participated in the design for a variety of conferencing and collaboration facilities at Educom, iGrid, and Supercomputing events.  He is currently participating in the design of next generation campus, California and national academic and educational research networks.
